This is hard to believe but it's true, Canada taxes books, that is the same as taxing knowledge. Whether you are buying a textbook, a novel, a children's story or a map you will pay tax on it.
I did not think that 'civilised countries' taxed children's books, but here in Canada that's what they do.
Personally I think it is madness, it amounts to a tax on knowledge.
Even more surprising is that Canadians accept this without a second thought.
